Heroin overdose @ Eugene Occupy
Just as I’d begun describing our local “OCCUPY” movement as ‘the typical “Mall Rats” + 10% useful idiots, … they prove my point …. the Occupy encampment at the west end of the 126 freeway is experiencing drug use — the same place the protestors gathered city children to “teach” them …. yesterday.
Eugene businesses (which are on the Downtown mall or the “path” often taken to the mall) have long requested help and complained to the city fathers and police that they sustain losses due to theft, and it’s all due to the drug users who hang out on the mall all day, and walk from a high-drug-abuse-neighborhood called “Felony Flats” on their way to the mall. Mall businesses have long complained that the presence of these “Mall Rats” have kept potential shoppers away from downtown.
EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR_TV) – Tense moments for Occupy Eugene protesters Saturday afternoon when police and paramedics were called for a reported heroin overdose.
Just after four o’clock, protesters say a man in his early 30’s passed out with a shallow pulse.
Protesters say two occupiers may have helped save the man’s life. A registered nurse and a doctor came to the man’s aid shortly after he passed out, giving him CPR before on-duty paramedics arrived.
Odd when one considers that the complaints made about drug paraphenia being found inside the park where protestors of the OCCUPY movement have been staged; those complaints have been met with arrogant comments like “How do you know they weren’t diabetics syringes?!”
The man eventually regained consciousness and is said to be okay. NewsSource 16 (KMTR-TV) was told he refused to go to the hospital by ambulance, but, agreed to let Occupy Eugene members drive him there.
