THEOLOGY 101
For centuries, the church has had it backwards (and that was intentionally done)!
Jesus taught first in the Synagogues. Jesus was born and raised as a Jew; so were His original followers – ALL OF ‘EM.
That, of course, included the Disciples. They were all Jews.
So were the thousands that became followers of Christ on Pentecost after hearing the Disciples speak in their own languages, done via the power of the Holy Spirit . . . they were not being converted; they were also Jews, albeit many were visitors; they just knew they’d found their Messiah!
It was not until Paul, a devout Pharisee, was struck blind on the road to Damascus and became also became a follower of Christ, that he sent the Disciples to non-Jews (often called Greeks or Gentiles) and were brought into the faith – the same faith of the Jews. Only then did they begin to go by the name of Christians …
But from the beginning,God had a plan – – to make gentiles, fellow heirs, together with the Jews.
But, Constantine had other, evil plans. Though the church remained Jewish for the first few centuries, everything Jewish, was outlawed at the council of Nicea in 325AD.
Constantine began, by dividing the followers – – pitting them against one another. From that day, probably much earlier, we were set against each other. . . the (Jews) were called “CHRIST KILLERS” by members of the Roman Catholic Church. From that time on, Constantine. ‘outlawed’ all things Jewish.
The problem remaeins today, so many of our pastors, in seminaries, were taught “Replacement Theology”, who, in turn, taught us.
We … … … we’re “grafted in”!
I do not believe that ‘the church’ “…remained Jewish…” for EVEN one century. If the N.T. is read chronologically, i.e. starting with I Thessalonians through the writings of (the many) ‘Johns’ — meaning John, I John, II John, & III John– reading the writings from the early 50’s through the time of about 95 C.E., one can see a ‘different story than reading from Matt. to Rev.
As far as Paul being a “Pharisee”, I have my doubts as he taught against the beliefs of that group. This Jesus did teach as a “Pharisee”. Define the word “Pharisee” and you’ll see what I’m saying.
One who are interested may even wish to read Zechariah 8, paying attention to 8:16 – 23. It is one of the areas of Scripture which ‘the church’ did not fiddle with or change with ‘their claim’ that these writings are a result of the scholarship of LXX (The Septuagint) – which, by the way, was ONLY a Greek translation of The Five Books of Moses, not a ‘translation’ of TaNaCH – what you call ‘the old testament’.
John, thanks for keeping me in your ‘loop’. Shalom……….
I’ll recommend a well-documented book, then: “THE MESSIANIC CHURCH ARISING. Sorry; thought i’d Answered this.
