15 cases of the Bubonic Plague have been reported in the U.S. this year, 4 were fatal. Some, had visited Yosemite National Park.
The (Bubonic) plague is spread by fleas on infected (even dead) rodents.
In the 14th century, 1/3rd of Europe was wiped out in 7 short years. Those who survived were mostly superstitious and fled to the hills.
