The FDA is the agency whose duty it has has been to approve or reject drugs, but to do so only after blind clinical trials and peer reviewed studies.
There’re obvious reasons alcohol, marijuana and all other drugs need to go through this FDA process.
Instead, as if the general public has the rationale to comprehend all this, now a disturbing trend to allow drugs by voter initiatives has begun … legalization by voter referendum – about as irresponsible a system as could be imagined!
Mass individual tragedies are predicted for these states who’ve authorized even quasi- legalization.
Yet also, needed to be considered, is once states have approved a drug for medical use, …
- there would be dosages to somehow set, especially difficult with multiple growers
- each plant with different properties
- there’s also reactions to ingredients to consider, and then
- the appropriate purpose(s) for which use of each drug would be allowed.
Plus, … any and all side effects would have to be listed, and in the end, … even the producers of such drugs could/should be held liable for any and all harm caused.
But, … we seem to be returning to the days of “Snake-Oil” salesmanship, where people are deceived and made to believe they’re being responsibly treated!
But doctors are by-in-large not dumb. In one state noted for recently passing such a law, only 11 doctors out of thousands have “recommended” use of marijuana for “medical” use for tens of thousands of ‘users’.
An extremely rare few legislators would have the kind of expertise needed to approve drugs and there is virtually no one in the general population …
These above issues have been not just overlooked, but have been intentionally hidden from the voters in the 26 states which have foolishly authorized “legalization.”
What this means for employers and the legal ramifications of allowing these drugs in the workplace has also been a head-in-the-sand mentality. Plus, these doctor’s malpractice insurance is sure to impact all physicians …
