Today there are 100’s of distinct chemical miraculous substances derived from plants, important drugs currently in use around the world.
There are a myriad of examples:
Foxglove: was used to synthesize Digitalis, a pharmaceutical used for Cardiac problems.
- Periwinkle, also known as Catharanthus roseus, produces several compounds with medicinal properties, including the anti-cancer drug vinblastine.
These pharmaceuticals are saving lives, but the consequences of simply using the plants themselves, as drugs, would be stupid and possibly fatal.
Those working to legalize marijuana would have you believe differently – that it’s safe … that’s propaganda.
- Part of proper use of safe drugs, is determining what an appropriate dosage is.
- Re: marijuana, more important, are the over 30,000 actual comprehensive, legitimate, scientific studies performed by those studying the efficacy of marijuana, not the “agenda-driven” studies funded by legalizers … all of which show pot causes harm.
The FDA was created to insure safety; it evolved originally to thwart the “snakeoil salesmen” who sold dangerous, addictive drugs yet claimed magical cures for their feel-good concoctions.
Nowadays however, instead of waiting for the drugs to be synthesized, a cabal of wealthy, unethical political folks saw an opportunity to make money by controlling the legalization and development of dangerous drugs.
Researching it all, is time consuming, but if one does, one can discover another version of how this has evolved and run so amok. One can even “follow-the-money” and see who is to blame.
Recent, credible studies have verified that marijuana use impairs critical cognitive functions, both during acute intoxication and for days after use, as reported in an article by medical doctors at the National Institute on Drug Abuse published in the New England Journal of Medicine in June 2014.
The title of the article is “Adverse Health Effects of Marijuana Use“; many other harmful health effects are reported in the article.
Washington and Colorado’s circumventing the protections provided by our FDA via using the ballot initiative, is sentencing our youth to a system of control that has damaged societies and the people in them since time began.
Some marijuana is over 10-20 times more powerful than it was in the 60’s & early 70’s, the ramifications of which, will probably take decades to become fully apparent.
I ask you, “what have we done to our children?”
