Normally I find Putin abrasive, condescending and a more than a bit scary.
In this instance I have to openly agree with his assessment of the folly of sending money and weapons to the Syrian rebels, … as President Obama is about to do openly … (and what our Ambassador and State Department employees in Benghazi, were already doing.)
As bad as Assad is, the alternative of letting the rebels take over, as they did in Libya and Egypt would be even worse, but it seems to be Obama’s game plan.
As opposed to Obama’s lack of forthrightness, Putin knows the problems with jihad and has had to deal with them face to face (the Beslan school, the Moscow theatre massacre, etc) as well as the ongoing jihad in Dagestan and Chechnya (home of the Boston bombers) so anything he can do to stop, or slow down the Islamist conquest of south-east Russia he will do.
His warning to Obama will probably fall on deaf ears, as Obama wants nothing to do with correlating Islam with violence. Yet I fear Putin’s words will come back to haunt us as we march boldly towards our own demise.
