District of Columbia – 6/19/2013
In spite of the fact that our forefathers opted for a Representative Democracy over a pure democracy for the very fact that if we elected moral men, they would do the right thing instead of following the will of a misguided majority ….. we still are failing our ideal of ….. “and among these rights are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
In spite of fierce Democratic opposition, including extreme statements from Pres. Barack Obama, the U.S. House of Representatives yesterday passed the “Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act” which would ban abortions after 20 weeks with narrow exceptions in all fifty states.
In spite of the fact that the not-yet-born feel pain at 6 weeks of conception ….
In spite of the final vote was 228-196, which fell nearly along party lines.
In spite of the fact that this was the most significant pro-life legislative victory in over ten years, make no mistake about it ….
This is only one house – there’s still the Senate, which is under Democratic control – the legislative body of baby killers. And then, should a miracle happen and it pass that legislative body as well, . . .
President Obama would veto it; when a Senator in the state of Illinois, he voted not once, but 4 times to deny basic Constitutional protections for babies born alive, … surviving an abortion attempt.
In spite of this little victory, it’s a glaring all-encompassing failure that we’ve elected gutless and / or amoral men to represent us!
