With the current heat wave and drought in the nation, there seems to be an opportunity to not only make money, but to serve the nation.
It’s said that corn fed beef is going to cost more. That brings up two points.
- We may not have ability to grow the glut of corn which the mid-west has turned out for a century, but then again our soil is not depleted of the nutrients which corn needs (the problem w/ corporate farming methods) and what we’d grow would be more nutritious, with less synthetic and therefore more damage from runoff into streams, lakes and the ocean.
- Therefore, there is a plentiful amount of food potential here because of the intensive rain in the Pacific Northwest and therefore not only an opportunity to sustain a viable food product and make money, but a way for American farmers to serve the needs of our nation. Don’t waste land – plant!
- Is there an empty field nearby? Then the owner or someone who rents it has an opportunity. Who knows if this heat wave, drought, and threatening dust bowl will last more than a year.
