20 miles from Columbine High School, this morning, at approximately 12:30 am, at a late night premier screening, of “Dark Knight Rises”, the 3rd Batman movie, … inside one of the 3 theatres showing the blockbuster movie, at Century 16 in Aurora, Colorado, a mass shooting occurred; 15 are now confirmed dead, and 38 injured.
Among the dead, 1 infant and numerous youth. 4 Hospitals are treating the injured.
It’s reported that he shooter, now in custody, is a 24 year old male a former University of Colorado student; he was supposedly in the process of withdrawing from seeking his Ph.D. His father is known to be flying to Colorado from San Diego, Ca. and is cooperating with authorities.
It’s reported he was wearing a bullet-proof vest and swat clothing …. he also had an explosive device in his vehicle, but it looks as if his apartment is booby-trapped and all the residents have been evacuated.
Police were on scene when the shooting began, but only for crowd control. It began, from the front of the theatre, when the shooter released gas canisters / tear gas?, and then began firing, even shooting a toddler at point-blank range.
Liberals, such as New York Mayor Bloomberg and others, those who fear Liberty, of course . . . those who want to deny 2nd Amendment rights have already begun to exploit this tragedy. All it would have taken to impact this shooting is that one citizen be carrying and willing to protect others. This brings to mind those hero youth in my home town who happened to be in the cafeteria when Kip Kinkel’s gun jammed and they charged him and tackled him – – – heros all!
Will Homeland Security classify this as “Workplace Violence” as they did when Major Malik Nadal Hasan shot and killed soldiers about to deploy to Afghanistan? Major Hasan’s trial was delayed and is to take place one month from today.
Was he a terrorist? Will it even be admitted, … if it was?
Or is he just a disturbed and stressed youth? It looks now as if he was a deranged youth fascinated with the movie characters — his hair was colored Red as if he was imitating the Joker – Batman’s nemesis.
Was he into using drugs? (It’s said he was studying Neuroscience, which means he had a chemistry background … which could also mean the booby-traps could be dangerous.)
