UPDATE: Students reacted as students will – with a total self-centered rage, tipping over a news van, beginning to cause damage on campus, the police put a quick stop to it ….. so far. Penn State students have no clue.
In another time, Joe would be run out of town on a rail, tarred and feathered. His hypocritical “we’re praying for them just doesn’t do it! This will change, as people come to their senses ….. then again, this is the Football god, and they’re incredibly immature. It’s time one of the victims spoke and Penn State fans got a wake-up call ! ! ! ! ! Joe had an obligation and he failed it …. he failed every child …. he failed every parent!
Yesterday’s post: Although this really shouldn’t be in my blog; I couldn’t help it; my anger got the best of me and just so you know, it has nothing to do with the Danny O’Neil’s defeat at the Rose Bowl ….. My (formerly local) still favorite team is the U of O Ducks.
Normally, it’d be that I rant enough about people being focused on football and entertainment when we’re about to lose our entire nation, …. but ….
Yes; there’s a “but”. As I watched these disgusting, petty neighbors of Joe’s, last night, I wondered if any of the now grown men who’d been assaulted, as children, were watching Paterno’s neighbors who’d gathered to welcome him home ….. chanting his name and patting him on his back.
- If so, I wondered what they thought – both groups.
- I wondered why his neighbors are so blind so as to forget the damage done. Are they totally insensitive? Uncaring? … or just plain old Jerks?
- I wondered if the victims held any animosity toward Joe’s silence.
- I wondered if they were angry at him.
- I wondered if the formerly assualted, were feeling anger at Joe’s neighbors.
If I’d been a 10 year old who had been sexually assaulted …. by a grown man … I’d be more than angry, … at Joe AND his neighbors!
But I wasn’t assaulted by a pedophile. If I had been, I’d be so angry that it probably would have resulted in violence against the perp., and would’ve changed my life, but against Joe?
Surely, he should have done something and as far as I’m concerned; will it happen now? Did the victims even know that Joe had heard? If it’d been me, I’d at least confront him and ask him if he’d ever looked in a mirror and asked himself … “What kind of a man are you?”
Still, this ‘godfather of football’ should live in shame for his inaction, for the rest of his life. He should at the very least, … be shunned by those in his hometown!
And the neighbors? Instead of cheering, instead of chanting “JOE!”, and instead of patting him on the back, …. they need to be grateful! ….. GRATEFUL … that it wasn’t one of their children who was assaulted!
There are times when inaction is a sin …. this was one of those times!
