No one was injured during the 18 hour-long raid on over 56 homes – all with search warrants. Over 300 police participated, from local Drug Enforcement Teams, all the way up through county and state officers to the federal DEA.
Police reported the damage to rental homes was extensive – unsafe chemicals were present, modified electrical panels were common which could have produced fires, and the extent of mold in these homes can cause severe health issues, even fatal, not to mention the cost to attempt to restore the homes to livable conditions.
If you suspect a home to be a grow house, below, are some of the signs to look for:
- windows covered
- moisture on the insides of windows
- sound of fans, on at all hours
- seems to be no residents, only people who come and stay short durations – 15 – 30 minutes.
If you notice any of the above signs, notify your local police department.
