For years now I’ve noted that on the very rare occasions when some media person asks a liberal what the top tax rate should be on someone’s income, they change the subject, shuffle their feet, and refuse to name a figure. The implicit answer is always “higher than it is now,” but the consequent logic of their position is always that the rate could be 100 percent.
Latest case in point is Illinois Democratic Congresswoman Jan Schakowski, who was caught on a radio show this morning letting the mask slip completely:
Host: So Jan Schakowsky, out of every dollar that I earn, how much do you think I deserve to keep?
Schakowsky: What is really your question here? Do you think you should not contribute to firefighters?
Host: No, no, it’s a very simple question. Out of every dollar I earn, how much do you, Jan Schakowsky, think I deserve to keep?
Schakowsky: No, it’s not a simple question. No, it is not a simple question. I’ll put it this way. You don’t deserve to keep all of it.
Host: Why?
Schakowsky: It’s not a question of deserving. What government is, is those things we decide to do together.”
“I think you need to pay your fair share for things we’ve decided are our national priorities,” Schakowsky added ….
My Comment: A typical Democratic philosophy! What needs to be done – this next election, 2012: 1) Throw EVERY Democrat, and ALL but a very few Republicans (newly elected Tea Party Members and a couple others) out of office, 2) Elect people who promise to revise the perks our elected officials get – no better than the voters!
