Without hesitation, Homeland Security’s Napolitano touring Israel’s airport system, rebuffed the concepts Israel uses to secure their airline industry and their airports – focusing on the sheer size, “they’re a very different animal ….”
Though true, Israel’s successful track record is beyond reproach, especially compared to the U.S.! Napolitano commented, “We have a common goal, which is to protect ….”, yet Israel’s one major international airport Ben-Gurion, compared to 450 American airports is the difference, but throwing all of Israel’s techniques out, (intelligence gathering, perimeter security, and checkpoint screening,) makes absolutely no sense either!
No explanation on why TSA’s invasive pat downs are preferred, while the Israeli behavioral profiling is firmly rejected ….. at least none-other than Obama’s firm conviction though unexplained, the policy of political correctness is valued ……
Further clouding the issue, Napolitano and TSA chief John Pistole have said repeatedly that the new procedures at U.S. airports are so far the best way to keep ahead of the “evolving threat.” A department statement issued late Tuesday noted that the TSA uses a “layered security approach,” including the deployment of behavior detection officers, air marshals and explosives detection canine teams. (Note: Air Marshals, (due to the required age and dress restrictions) are as easily spotted as Muslims in fundamental attire.)
Napolitano said, her discussions with Israeli officials would focus on “what partnerships we have, what information we’re sharing, what kind of best practices we can share in terms of protecting security and safety.”
Napolitano’s first stop (as if they’ve been successful stopping combatant’s border crossings) was in Afghanistan on New Year’s Eve, followed by a stop in Qatar. On Wednesday, she is going to Belgium, the headquarters of international customs efforts.
